chinese people are very superstitious right? stereotype but true! like me, I like feng shui. but since I'm also a person of science, it is hard to explain feng shui. feng shui books like lilian too's are very confusing since there are no clear cut instructions, since she includes different schools of feng shui. so some times what is said in one book is different from another. I know, feng shui is not an exact science. but for an amateur like me, it is better to follow books written like science books. such as eva wong's master course in feng shui. anyway, when things go wrong, we can blame lots of things. like bad feng shui. or the poor black cats. ok, that one not chinese superstition but I can't remember all the things people used to tell me lah. breaking mirror thing also not purely chinese superstition. but to blame the taxi is something else altogether! apparently taking taxis with the number 4 in their number plates can bring you bad luck! I pity all those people with the number 4 in their number plates. I wonder if they skip the 4th floors in shanghai, like they skip the 13th floors in the US. seriously, some buildings go from the 12th to the 14th floor. there are actually quite a lot of number fours in my life. maybe I should start getting rid of them. like sticking 3b on the elevator buttons, or maybe 3 3/4, like harry potter. ok, to tell the truth, I won't buy a house with number 4 alone. but I didn't choose my car number or phone number. anything lah. but taxi number plate? I don't even look at the number plates. try telling your ang moh boss you don't want to take the taxi he just flagged down because of the number 4. luckily we don't have to worry about that in shanghai anymore!! no taxis with the number 4 in shanghai!! or at least for that cab company. those dimsum places should also stop serving things in sets of 4!! chinese restaurant and yet you serve me 4 siumais?!!!
